Lionel Messi's time in Ibiza is over and he returned to Barcelona on Wednesday following several weeks off after winning the Copa America.

The Argentine forward arrived at El Prat airport early in the evening after spending almost a week in Ibiza with his family.

Messi, 34, had previously spent time in Miami and the Dominican Republic before he returned to Europe, spending one night back in Barcelona first, last week.

With his return to the Catalan city, developments are expected in the coming days with regards to his new contract with Barcelona.

A five-year agreement is in place but not yet signed but it could be finalised soon -- as early as this week -- as the final details are concluded.
