Leo Messi waved goodbye to La Liga with a double at Mendizorroza and won his seventh top scorer award. A record Pichichi.

He wrote his name in history again, beating Telmo Zarra's tally of six (1944-45, 1945-46, 1946-47, 1949-50, 1950-51 and 1952-53).

The Blaugrana forward earned his first in 2009-10 and then did it again in 2011-12, 2012-13, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 and now 2019-20, outgunning the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez, Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema.

His last victim was the latter, who took it down to the final week but ended up four short of the Argentine's tally of 25.

Only four years has he been beaten - Cristiano Ronaldo (2011-12, 2013-14 y 2014-15) and Luis Suárez (2015-16).

Messi wrapped up his seventh last weekend and showed he's magic in front of goal once more, 25 in 33 matches. It's actually his least impressive tally. He has only won it with less than 30 goals twice - 28 in 2013-14 and 26 in 2015-16.

FOUR IN A ROW

He has also equalled the run of four in a row set by Alfredo di Stefano and Hugo Sanchez. Di Stéfano did his from the 1955-56 season to 1958-59, while the Mexican's golden era was 1984-85 to 1987-88.
