Leo Jardim, an option to reinforce Barca between the sticks

NEWS

The Brazilian keeper could replace Neto on the bench

Jardim / | sport

Barcelona are looking at Leo Jardim to take Neto’s place on the bench for next season. One Brazilian goalkeeper out, another in. Deco, who now runs a football agency, has offered the board his man, currently at Boavista on loan from Lille.

Formed at Gremio, Jardim (1.90m, 26 years old), is typical of the goalkeepers that Barcelona like. He also has an Italian passport so won’t take up a non-EU slot, and would not cost anything. His salary would also be lower than Neto’s and that’s good for Barca.

Jardim belong to Lille and his contract expires on June 30. The French club have Mike Maignan, who is in Deschamps’s squad for the Euros this summer.

Jardim is considered a good figure when it comes to team spirit, and that’s important, especially when not playing. He’s very professional and progressing.
