Lautaro Martinez was heavily linked with Barcelona over the past couple of seasons but in the end they didn’t manage to bring him in from Inter Milan.
The forward has stayed out of the spotlight when it comes to the Catalans’s interest but now has spoken to Gazette Dello Sport, saying he will not join the club.
“Yes, FC Barcelona wanted me a year ago, we were working on that, that was the path, I can’t tell you how close I was to that club. But I told Conte, ‘Don’t worry, I am focused on Inter.’ Now Barca for me is only the past, I’m staying at Inter for a long time.”
The Italians are fighting for Serie A and he is forming a fine partnership with Romelu Lukaku.
Lautaro had been advised by some former players, including Hernan Crespo, not to come to Barcelona.
