Bayern Munich president, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has confirmed that the club won't be taking up their option to sign Philippe Coutinho on a permanent basis from FC Barcelona. The Brazilian will, of course, see out the Champions League campaign and could even line up against his parent club on Friday
"As we've said a few times now, Coutinho's deal is over and we can't - and won't - make deals of that value," explained Rummenigge in an interview with 'BILD'. The loan agreement stipulated an option to sign Coutinho for €120m.
Rummenigge also spoke about another former Barça man, Thiago Alcantara, who is expected to leave Bayern this summer. "On Thiago, you know he's told us he wants a new challenge. If any club wants to talk and is willing to pay a fair price, we'll work on that."
According to certain outlets, Thiago is valued at €40m. So far no club has made an offer approaching that figure. He's been heavily linked with a move to English champions Liverpool.
