'Jordi Alba is the best left-back in the world' - Liverpool's Robertson

Robertson was voted No.1 by ESPN's team of journalists

Sport.es

Andrew Robertson doesn't have any doubts. "For me, the best left-back in the world is Jordi Alba," the Liverpool defender told ESPN.

Liverpool's incredible campaign -- Champions League winners and 97 points in the Premier League, just missing out on the title to Manchester City -- has seen their players feature highly in awards season.

ESPN have named Robertson and his Liverpool teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold, who plays on the right of the back four, as the best players in their respective positions.

The two full-backs are key to Liverpool's way of playing under Jurgen Klopp, excelling in attack almost as much as they do in defence.

Scotland international Robertson, 25, joined the Reds in 2017 from Hull City, but still doesn't rate himself as the best left-back in the game.

Upon receiving the award from ESPN, he was keen to point out that, for him, Barcelona's Alba is still the best.
