Lionel Messi's future is still not resolved, although it seems more and more likely that he will continue to play for Barcelona.

His current contract expires on June 30 but the club and president Joan Laporta are hopeful he will sign a new deal at Camp Nou.

Beyond that, Messi has never hidden his desire to play in the United States and Barça's contract offer could allow him the chance to do so.

A 10-year deal with the Catalan club would include an option for him toe end his career in Major League Soccer while continuing as an ambassador for Barça.

In that sense, Jorge Mas, co-owner of Inter Miami with David Beckham, has said in an interview with the Miami Herald that he's "optimistic" about his franchise's chances of landing Leo.

“David and I have been working really hard, we have aspirations of bringing the best players here and Messi is a generational player, arguably the best player of all time,” Mas said.

“I am optimistic Messi will play in an Inter Miami shirt because I think it will complete the legacy of the greatest player in our generation and will meet with the ambitions of the owners of Inter Miami to build a world class team.”
