Ibiza 1-2 Barcelona: Party-pooper Griezmann stops the fun on the White Isle

The Frenchman scored twice in the final 20 minutes to knock Ibiza out

Antoine Griezmann saved Barcelona from embarrassment in Ibiza on Wednesday, striking twice late on to seal a 2-1 win and book a place in the next round of the Copa del Rey.

Pep Caballe had given Ibiza and early lead but the third division side's dreams were extinguished by Griezmann in the final 20 minutes. He drew Barca level after good work from Frenkie de Jong and then struck the winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

New Barca coach Quique Setien will have been far from impressed with what he saw. Barca had 80 percent possession in the first half but didn't register a single shot on target.

Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique had been rested, while Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele are still injured, but Barca had more than enough quality on the pitch to win the game.

However, too many players handed chances failed to step up on the artificial pitch against Ibiza.

The home side took the lead with their first attack. Javi Perez got in front of Riqui Puig to turn the ball towards the goal, with it deflecting off Caballe and beating Neto.

Ibiza should have been two-up before the break. Rodado Angel had a goal chalked out for a foul on Clement Lenglet and saw another shot tipped over by Neto after Rai Nascimento had hit the post.

Barca didn't improve much after the break but did eventually find their way through.

Griezmann turned home in the 72nd minute after being fed by De Jong and then, in the fourth minute of stoppage time, fired home his second after being picked out by substitute Jordi Alba.

Ansu Fati had previously had a clear penalty appeal turned down but it didn't cost Barca in the end, who are in the hat for the last 32.
