Hector Bellerin will stay and Barca's right-back signing hopes fade

The Spanish defender is not planning on departing from Camp Nou until the summer

Xavi wanted a right back in the January market. However Hector Bellerin will be staying until the end of his contract in June, so no new arrival is expected unless the club make a surprise investment.

Bellerin has had offers, including from Roma, but he has prioritised staying at Barca to end the season in the best form possible. Xavi has not counted on him a lot because of injuries but he might have more protagonism from here on out.

Barcelona will also get Sergi Roberto back, and with Kounde and Araujo who can also play right-back, those are Xavi’s options for the slot. Kounde played the World Cup with France at that position.

Barcelona will look to bring in a new one in the summer, though. They wanted Cesar Azpilicueta last summer but could not get him. It’s a position that has been problematic since Dani Alves left the first time.
