Marcos Alonso Peña (Santander, 1 October 1959), the father of the Barcelona player Marcos Alonso Mendoza and son of the ex-Spain international Marcos Alonso Imaz 'Marquitos', died this Thursday at the age of 63, a victim of cancer.

Like his son, he also played for Barcelona between 1982 and 1987. His goal in the Copa del Rey final, on the night of 4 June 1983, against Real Madrid, is the greatest memory of 'Pichón' in a Barça shirt.

Capped 22 times by Spain, he won a total of five trophies, all of them with Barça. One LaLiga (1984-85), one Copa del Rey (1983), one Spanish Super Cup (1983) and two Copas de la Liga (1983 and 1986).

He also played for Racing Santander, Atlético Madrid and Logroñés during his time as a footballer.

After hanging up his boots, he coached. Rayo, Racing and Atlético Madrid were some of his destinations during more than 10 years on the bench.
