Barcelona will begin work on renovating Camp Nou in June after being granted a license by the council on Thursday at a cost of €6 million.

President Joan Laporta and city mayor Ada Colau appeared in a press conference to confirm that Barça can finally begin the Espai Barça project.

The €1.5 billion project will take four years to carry out so should be completed in 2026.

The work is compatible with sporting activity for the majority of the time but Barça will have to leave Camp Nou for a season in 2023-34.

For that campaign, they will play at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic, which holds around 60,000 people.
