L'Equipe's Barcelona correspondent, Florent Torchut, has dismissed the suggestion that Barça's director of football, Eric Abidal, met with Manchester United's Paul Pogba in the United States.
In the journalist's personal Twitter account, he quoted Abidal who denies the story in this morning's Tuttosport which claimed a meeting took place. "He's on holiday there but we didn't see each other. They (Tuttosport) used the fact that we were both in the same area to create a story."
The suggestion a meeting took place comes from Raffaele Riverso, also a Barcelona correspondent, but for Italian newspaper Tuttosport. He claims that Abidal and Pogba met in Beverly Hills to talk about a possible transfer deal.

According to Riverso, this was the motive behind Abidal accompanying the team on their tour of the United States. The meeting with Pogba was held in secret as to avoid any possible sanctions for Barça as the midfielder is under contract with Manchester United.
