Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is one of the players out of contract at the end of the season that Barcelona have been working on a deal on.

Negotiations are at an advanced stage to sign him for free in the summer but must kick on this month to avoid missing out on the Danish international.

Christensen's seen as a good fit for the Barça backline and everything is almost agreed pending a final decision from Barça in the coming days.

It's viewed as a good deal in a sporting and financial sense, as he would arrive for nothing to strengthen the defence.

Talks have been ongoing for a long time. Barça tried to sign him on loan a few years ago when he wasn't playing as regularly at Chelsea but the Premier League side would not let him out.

The relationship has remained in place since then and Barça began working on a deal for this summer last summer. Christensen does not want to wait too long to define his future because he has a lot of offers, although his idea has always been to play for Barça.

The financial agreement has been worked on this month and Christensen has rejected Chelsea's offers to renew. Now Barça have to execute the deal or leave the player to either renew with Chelsea or look for another club.

He has three offers from the Premier League but would prefer to move abroad if he leaves Chelsea, with Bayern Munich also in the hunt.
