David Villa visited the academy that carries his name in Valencia taking advantage of the MLS break. The New York City FC player answered some questions from children present, answering in Spanish and English, saying if Valencia had not needed the money “I would have continued at the club”, not signing for Barcelona.
Furthermore, despite his success at Camp Nou he left because he didn’t get much “protagonism”. “I decided to leave for another team to have more of a key role,” he said.
On this season, Villa said: “Obviously Real Madrid have a considerable advantage on the rest, but there’s a long way to go, a lot to do, and I believe in Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, the teams that I feel for in my heart most, they can get closer and fight for the title until the end.”
Regarding Messi’s contract situation he added: “I have no information, I think it will happen [a renewal] in the future, sooner or later, because Barcelona love Messi and Messi loves Barça, anything else we can’t imagine.”
