Cristiano Ronaldo would like Lionel Messi to leave Barcelona to sign for an Italian club. The Juventus striker made the comments in an interview with 'La Gazzetta Dello Sport' and 'Corriere Dello Sport'.

"I would like him to come to Italy one day. Like me, accept the challenge," the former Real Madrid player said.

"No, I don't miss Messi," he added. "I've played in England, Spain, Italy, Portugal, I've won things with my national team... while he is still in Spain. Maybe he needs me more.

"For me, life is a challenge. I like it and I like making people happy. I would like it if he came to Italy one day. Like me, accept the challenge.

"But if he's happy where he is, I respect that. He's a fantastic player, a good guy. This is my new life and I am happy."

Meanwhile, the Portugal international also spoke about his objectives with Juventus: "The Champions League should not be an obsession, but this team is very strong."
