There was more bad news for Barcelona on Sunday despite the win over Alaves as Clement Lenglet was forced off with a hip problem in the second half.
The centre-back was unable to finish the game and was replaced after 50 minutes by Nelson Semedo, who scored the fourth goal of a 5-0 win seven minutes later.
Lenglet had tried to play on through the pain but, with Barça already 3-0 up, it was decided that no risks should be taken with the Champions League in mind.
Barça host Napoli on Aug. 8 and hope that the France international will be fit to play against the Italians in the round-of-16 game.
Lenglet's injury meant Arturo Vidal had to play the second half of the Alaves win at centre-back, alongside B team defender Ronald Araujo.
Gerard Pique missed the game through suspension and Samuel Umtiti is currently sidelined with a knee problem.
