Sevilla's centre back, Clement Lenglet, arrived early this Tuesday morning to inform the club he would be leaving in order to sign a five-year deal with Barcelona.

The expectation at Sevilla is that this situation is resolved as soon as possible as they return to preseason training today.

Sevilla's early start to the season is due to them entering the Europa League qualifying rounds and new coach Pablo Machin wants all matters out of the way so he's able to make the additions he feels the team needs.

The Sevilla players who haven't been involved at the World Cup in Russia will start preseason training over the next couple of days to undergo fitness and medical tests.

However, Lenglet won't take part in these after telling Joaquin Caparros that he's leaving the Sanchez Pizjuan after accepting an offer from Barcelona. He's currently in a Sevilla hotel close to the offices of the club and during this week will reach an agreement to confirm his exit.

Barça and Sevilla are finalising the last details of an agreement but Lenglet will announce his decision to leave Sevilla today before officially signing for Barcelona on Thursday, where he will then be given an official presentation.

The French centre back will become Barcelona's first signing of the 2018/19 season.

For the deal to go through, Barcelona will need to pay €35m - his buyout clause figure - to Sevilla as well as €3.5m to Nancy for their involvement in Lenglet's development at youth level. Lenglet arrived at Sevilla in January 2017 for just €5m.
