Gavi's explosion onto the scene this season continued last Sunday with another exhibition at La Cartuja as Spain beat Sweden to reach the 2022 World Cup.

It's not gone unnoticed elsewhere, of course, and Champions League winners Chelsea are interested in signing the La Masia graduate.

Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea, is ready to pay Gavi's release clause to strengthen Thomas Tuchel's squad even further.

The English club hope to pay the €50 million clause to sign one of the most promising youngsters in world football as he has shown this season.

It's worth remembering though that, per Catalunya Radio, Barça are optimistic Gavi will sign a new contract at Camp Nou soon.

President Joan Laporta has made extending his deal a priority and wants him to sign until 2026 with a €1 billion release clause.
