Former Barcelona presidential candidate Agusti Benedito announced through his Twiter account that during the game against Juventus in the Champions League he received 3,660 more signatures in favour of his vote of no confidence against Josep Maria Bartomeu and the club's board.
Benedito, who on Sept. 8 collected the 33,140 ballot papers from the club's offices, needs 16,570 signatures to take the vote to the next stage. So far, he has, at least, a total of 6,580 signatures.
In addition, there is a debate over how long he has to get the signatures. While Benedito says it's Oct. 2, the club believe it should close on Sept. 26 instead. It's not a minor detail as Barcelona are at home to Las Palmas on Oct. 1.
The division over the dates is due to an argument over what constitutes a working day and whether the vote starts from when the ballot papers are made available or when they're collected.
Benedito will give a press conference on Sept. 14 to reveal how the vote is going and the total number of signatures so far.
These add to the 2,920 signatures he got during Barça-Espanyol at the weekend:
