Bartomeu strikes: Remodelling of the board

The president wants the resignation of Rousaud

According to Joan Vehils on Twitter @jvehils, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has banged on the table by shaking up the board. The president gathered together his directors on a conference call on Monday and demanded the resignation of Emili Rousaud because he considers him disloyal and operating behind Bartomeu's back.

Rousaud was Bartomeu's No 2 after ascending up but now it seems his state of grace and position as successor is over. Bartomeu did the same with Enrique Tombas, the fourth vice-president and treasurer, Silvio Elias, Barcelona B director and Josep Pont, in charge of the commercial area. He wants them to leave their posts and be replaced by other directors.

If they don't resign they will continue in place but in the most minor roles possible. Bartomeu wants his last year in charge to be positive and for that he needs unity in the board, something that has not been the case since the 'melon was cut open' - the fight to succeed him began.
