Barcelona's Arturo Vidal will go into quarantine if he travels to Chile

The Chilean government have announced new measures to combat the spread of coronavirus

Arturo Vidal's chances of playing for Chile later this month are up in the air. The Barcelona midfielder could be affected by new measures announced in the country to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The health minister, Jaime Mañalich, revealed on Tuesday that all people arriving in the country from certain countries, including Spain and Italy, would have to go into quarantine for 14 days.

Therefore, Vidal, upon arriving in his country for this month's World Cup qualifiers, would have to self-isolate for two weeks.

That would render his trip pointless, as he would not be available for the game against Colombia in Santiago de Chile on March 31.

However, he could feature against Uruguay in Uruguay on March 26 as they have not yet brought in similar travel restrictions.

Given the context, though, there has been speculation that all of this month's World Cup qualifiers in South America, which would draw players from around the globe, will be postponed.
