Right-back is one of the priority positions Barcelona want to strengthen. Xavi Hernandez has a list of options who the sporting department will have to pay special attention to and one of them is Arnau Martinez.
Martinez came through La Masia as a centre-back but has continued his career at Girona, where he has been playing as a full-back.
At 19, he already has a promotion to LaLiga under his belt and is now performing at a high level in the Spanish top flight, including in games against Real Madrid, Atletico and Real Sociedad, which has impressed Barça.
Release clause: €20 million
Aware of his potential and that he still has room to improve, Xavi has asked the club to monitor him closely.
Martinez signed a new contract with Girona last January until 2025 with a release clause that increased to €20 million once they were promoted.
It's a fee that Barça could afford as they look for 'low-cost' signings for next season.
The right-back has never hidden his desire to return home to Barça.
In an interview with Què T'hi Jugues in October, he said: "Playing for Barça is a dream I have had since I was little."
That could become a reality next summer.
