Liverpool closed one of the signings of the summer on Sept. 19 when the snapped up Thiago Alcantara from European champions Bayern Munich.
The Premier League side convinced Thiago to join Jurgen Klopp's project after he decided it was time for a change of scenery after seven successful years in Germany.
Liverpool seduced Thiago with a succulent sporting and financial offer that he could not turn down. Barça were also monitoring their former player's situation but didn't manage to persuade him to come home.
According to The Guardian, who label the transfer as the "deal of the summer," Barça made one final, almost desperate attempt to land him but could not convince him to return to Camp Nou.
Thiago made his Liverpool debut in the win over Chelsea but has not played since after testing positive for coronavirus. He should return this weekend for the Merseyside derby against Premier League leaders Everton.
