Barcelona have sealed the signing of Colombian defender Yerry Mina. The Blaugrana had an option to buy on the centre-back for nine million euros and have decided to execute it. However he will not arrive until January, and instead will stay at his current club Palmeiras.
Barcelona didn’t want to wait longer to solve the defensive problems exposed by Real Madrid’s 5-1 Spanish Super Cup aggregate victory. The team counts on Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique but Javier Mascherano’s performances have decayed and Marlon is a relatively unknown prospect.
Barcelona have two options. The first would be to incorporate Yerry Mina in January, the second would be to leave him on loan at Palmeiras for a year if the team starts to function.
Yerry is out until the end of September with a foot injury he recently sustained.
