Barcelona don't want to pay more than 40m euros for Ferran Torres

The Catalans are hoping for a discount on the former Valencia wide man

Barcelona are trying to bring winger Ferran Torres back to Spain in a complicated deal that they need Man City to help them with to make it affordable. They are keen on the forward for his versatility and quality at 21 years old, but can only pay 40 million euros for him. That fee is payable if they buy him next summer. Barcelona know the player would be happy back in La Liga with them, and with that they can work on a deal, but today things are complicated.

Relations with Man City are good and in recent months there have ben a lot of talks over deals. Laporte and Sterling were discussed. Mateu Alemany, the director of football, flew twice to Manchester for Sterling and even though it didn’t happen it was close.

Barcelona know the player wants to come, they have spoken to his people and he will do all he can to make it so. City signed him for 25m euros plus 12m in objectives, many not completed yet. Barcelona estimate his market price is 40m and don’t want to go further than that.

To bring him in January would only be possible if the payment could be delayed. City want over 60m euros for him, which Barcelona cannot get close to. They will keep trying to find another way.
