Bad news for Barcelona. The club have announced that Frenkie de Jong has a hamstring strain and is set to miss Wednesday's match against Rayo Vallecano.

The Dutch midfielder picked up the injury in the Clasico win against Real Madrid on Sunday, although Barça have not revealed how long he will be out for.

Ronald Koeman's side travel to Vallecas on Wednesday and then host Alaves at Camp Nou on Saturday, both matches in LaLiga

"The first team player Frenkie de Jong has a hamstring strain in his right thigh," a short statement confirmed. "The midfielder is unavailable for selection and his recovery will dictate his return."

De Jong started against Madrid but came off after 77 minutes of the game, replaced by Sergi Roberto.
