Barcelona coach Xavi says "new generations want to go too fast"

The Barça boss also spoke about Matias Messi's comments -- and apology

Barcelona coah Xavi Hernandez says young players want too much soon in the modern game and should show more patience.

Xavi was asked about players who were not getting much playing time and provided the example of Franck Kessie -- and himself.

"I offer them an example of some of their teammates," he said of any players feeling impatient. "There is Franck Kessie, who made a difference the other day.

"And here (in me) they have someone who had a lot of patience. I spent three years wearing the No26 before being a success here. There is too much of a rush.

"I think the new generations want to go too quickly. You have to be patient to succeed here at what, for me, is the biggest club in the world... and the most difficult."

Xavi was also asked about critical comments made about the club by Lionel Messi's brother Matias this week.

"He has apologised, that's it," the Barça boss said. "I know the Messi family well. They are grateful, humble people. They have worked hard to be where they are.

"Sometimes we make mistakes. I am the first to apologise when I do and Matias has done."
