Barcelona 5-2 Real Betis: Griezmann glitters with double

Betis went ahead but Barcelona came from behind to win emphatically

Antoine Griezmann netted his first two Barcelona goals in a wild clash with Real Betis on Sunday night.

Barcelona, having lost their opening game at Athletic Bilbao and still without Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele, fell behind at Camp Nou when Nabil Fekir stroke home neatly.

It came against the run of play but nobody could argue with the Frenchman’s finish or Loren Moron’s fine pass.

But Griezmann equalised before the break, sliding home from Sergi Roberto’s cross.

Rafinha could have sent Barcelona ahead but missed his kick from close range.

In the 50th minute, Griezmann was on target again. The forward whipped a strike in rom the right of the box into the top left corner.

“I tried to copy Messi,” he said after the game. The Argentine enjoyed it watching from the sidelines, as did the fans, who Griezmann threw confetti in the air in front of as part of a special celebration he had up his sleeve.

Carles Perez added the third goal, moving inside from the right and tucking home, with Jordi Alba slotting in the fourth after Sergio Busquets’ fine pass.

The fifth came with Griezmann sliding a ball to substitute Arturo Vidal, who lashed home emphatically.

Betis grabbed one more back with a Moron piledriver leaving Ter Stegen for dead, but the game was up.

One further nice note came when Ansu Fati appeared as a substitute - the 16 year old became Barcelona’s second youngest ever player.
