Barcelona 4-0 Osasuna: Griezmann fires as Messi remembers Maradona

Braithwaite, Griezmann, Coutinho and Messi scored in big Barcelona win

Javier Giraldo

Lionel Messi paid an emotional tribute to Diego Maradona as Barcelona thumped Osasuna 4-0 on Sunday to move into the top half of La Liga.

Messi scored the fourth, firing home from distance, before peeling off his Barca shirt to reveal a Newell's Old Boy's shirt with the No.10 on the back in homage to Maradona, who passed away earlier this week.

Martin Braithwaite, Antoine Griezmann and Philippe Coutinho were also on target, while Ousmane Dembele had one ruled out for offside.

Barca started well and Coutinho had a shot cleared off the line before a rejuvenated Griezmann twice came close.

The opening goal came when Messi found Jordi Alba with a fine pass. Alba's cross was squandered by Coutinho but Braithwaite was on target to make it three goals in a week following his brace againsy Dynamo Kiev.

Griezmann added the second just before half time with a thumping volley from the edge of the box.

Osasuna also posed a threat and Marc-Andre ter Stegen had to be alert, making several good saves, but Barca pulled clear in the second half to make sure of the three points.

Coutinho tapped home the third after good work from Griezmann before the only negative of the afternoon for Ronald Koeman's side: Clement Lenglet limping off with an ankle problem.

Lenglet's injury means Barça have no senior first team centre-backs fit. Frenkie de Jong and Oscar Mingueza finished the game at the back.

Despite that, Barça still added fourth. Moments after substitute Dembele's goal had been ruled out for a marginal offside, Messi scored from 20 yards before revealing his Maradona tribute.
