Barcelona kicked off their pre-season with a win over Tottenham on penalties, with Arthur scoring a special goal on his first game for the club.

Munir El Haddadi headed Barcelona in front from Rafinha's ball and then Arthur slammed home a long-distance strike to double the lead.

In the second half Tottenham scored two goals in a brief error-strewn spell from a team filled with youth players, netting in the 73rd and 75th minutes to force the game to go to penalties.

In the first half Arthur showed why he was signed and how he can help Barcelona survive without Andres Iniesta. He showed great vision, simpleness to his play and a fine shot.

However if Arthur was the positive note, injuries to Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes, both muscle problems, was the negative.

The other debutant in the side was Clement Lenglet, who started and kept Lucas Moura quiet along with Marlon, who has grown after his loan.

Nelson Semedo and Miranda shone as the full-backs in the first half, with Lucas Digne discarded ahead of his move.

FATAL ERRORS

After a fine first half things fell apart in the second. Christian Eriksen hit Jasper Cillessen's post, before Son and Nkoudou struck after errors from Cuenca and Mingueza.

Malcom came on as a substitute and ended up scoring the winning spot kick after Cillessen saved Georgiou's.
