Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are battling to sign Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell, according to the Sun.

The 22 year old left-back would cost around 50 million pounds (50m euros).

A high figure that Barcelona would be unlikely to pay for a reserve for Jordi Alba, with other transfer targets like Matthijs de Ligt on the menu.

Brendan Rodgers doesn’t want to lose the defender and Manchester City are also interested in the England defender.

Chilwell would in theory be a replacement for Filipe Luis at Atletico, while with Lucas Hernandez going to Bayern they are in extra need of cover in that position.

If he came to Barcelona he would be back-up and the long-term replacement for Alba.

Man City, who have seen Benjamin Mendy miss most of the season with different injuries, are also hoping to sign a left-back, although Oleksandr Zinchencko has performed well there.

Arsenal have looked into Chilwell too but cannot rival City, Barca and Atletico, say the Sun.

Chilwell turned 22 on December 21 and has a contract with Leicester until June 30, 2024.
