Atletico boss Simeone insisting on move for Barcelona's Semedo

Barça don't want to sell the right-back, who has a 100 million euros release clause

Nelson Semedo remains on Atletico Madrid's list of targets for the summer. Diego Simeone wants him. Really wants him. In fact, he's pushed the club to start talks with Barcelona over the right-back, but the answer has been negative.

Barça don't want to sell the Portuguese international. The objective is to keep him in the squad and the hope is that he will cement his place as a starter, something he's not managed in his first two seasons under Ernesto Valverde.

In any case, and according to Goal.com, the possible signing of Antoine Griezmann in July, when the French forward's release clause drops to 120 million euros, could possibly change things.

Barça are reluctant to negotiate a sale and have pointed to Semedo's 100 million euro release clause. He has a contract until 2022 and his exit is not one the club had planned this summer -- despite the need for an overhaul.

During the season, Semedo has rotated the right-back position with Sergi Roberto and the plan next season is for Barça B's Moussa Wague to join the first team, too.
