The Joan Gamper trophy served to silence the doubts around Arturo Vidal's capacity to play at Barcelona.

The Chilean warrior plays in an aggressive way and some said he would not fit into the Barcelona game. But he took just 45 minutes in Barca's 3-0 win over Boca Juniors to show his Barca DNA.

Ernesto Valverde picked him as the left interior, ahead of Rakitic and in a pair with Coutinho, who was on the right

Vidal didn't just cover his zone but played close to the area and ate up a lot of territory, including connecting with Messi.

The midfielder made 42 passes with just three off-target, a 93 per cent pass accuracy. Of his 42 interventions on the ball, 75 per cent were two touches or less, fitting into the Barca style. The purists can rest easy.
