Barcelona have been closing contract renewals over the last year. Gerard Pique is the latest to sign, but the club now must tie Sergi Roberto down a new deal.

The academy graduate has a contract until 2019 and his release clause sits as low as 40 million euros, a fee many clubs would be willing to pay in the current market.

Barça are relaxed, though, becuase Sergi Roberto's manifested his desire to remain at the club and to sign a new deal.

Talks began in November and Barça are still negotiating with the player's agent, Josep Maria Orobitg.

There are differences between both parties at the moment, but both are keen to iron them out and to sign an extension.

Barça are currently immersed in the January transfer market, mainly looking to move players on now, so will look to finalise things in February.

After Pique and Sergi Roberto, the club will turn to Samuel Umtiti. The defender's 60 million euros release clause has led to interest from a number of clubs.

Umtiti, however, like Roberto, is happy in Barcelona and is not planning to leave the club.
